Vision and Values

Irvine Royal Academy ...

...believes in Better

Irvine Royal Academy is a thriving learning community which inspires, encourages and challenges all to be confident, responsible, successful and effective contributors to society.

Our vision is based on our core values of:

  • Respect
  • Responsibility
  • Ambition

Our learning community aims to:

  • have structures in place to ensure that all young people are safeguarded
  • ensure teachers are able to teach as freely as possible within a flexible timetable and dynamic curriculum
  • lead by example to develop and support first class teaching and learning in every lesson
  • bring real life into the classroom, inspiring all to take the learning beyond the four walls
  • make learning challenging to meet the needs of all learners, ensuring that no one is left behind
  • promote a ‘can do’ approach to continuous school improvement
  • empower all learners to contribute fully to the life of the school and to exercise our responsibilities as global citizens.

Rights Respecting Schools

Together young people and the school community learn about children’s rights, putting them into practice every day. The Award is not just about what children do but also, importantly, what adults do. In Rights Respecting Schools children’s rights are promoted and realised, adults and children work towards this goal together.

There are four key areas of impact for children at a Rights Respecting school; wellbeing, participation, relationships and self-esteem.

The difference that a Rights Respecting School makes goes beyond the school gates, making a positive impact on the whole community.

  • Children are healthier and happier
  • Children feel safe
  • Children have better relationships
  • Children become active and involved in school life and the wider world
