MCR Pathways

Our Pathways Co-ordinator is based in Irvine Royal Academy. By working alongside the Scottish Charity, MCR Pathways, care experienced pupils are supported in our school as part of the programme. Group work delivered for S1 and S2 pupils concentrates on developing motivation, commitment and resilience. Additionally, as part of our Mentor Programme, S3-S6 pupils who are eligible for our support are matched with a volunteer mentor from the community and meet with them weekly. The mentor is there to offer support and listen to the young person and help them realise their potential, find their talents, grow these talents and go on to use these talents.

Our Programme has seen proven improvements in young people's confidence, aspirations, attendance and eventually their post school destinations. Within the mentoring provision, our Pathways Co-ordinator’s role is to liaise directly with the young people and the mentors to ensure that support is available as needed.
