Educational Psychology Service

The EP for the Irvine Royal cluster is Claire Cunningham (Irvine Royal, Castlepark PS, Castlepark EYC, Loudoun Montgomery PS & EY, Annick PS & EY, Woodlands PS & EY, Treetops Nursery and Owl & Pussycat Nursery). EPs meet monthly in a Locality Support Team with other EPs across the authority which supports case moderation, considers professional learning requests and supports delivery of any additional work.

HOW CAN WE SUPPORT

Monthly consultations are offered for each establishment to allow staff to have consultations on individual children and young people.  This can be organised around general themes if helpful, e.g. attendance, mental health needs, relationships (family breakdown, bereavement, addiction etc.), learning and teaching.

Individual case work can be agreed for the following purposes:

• Contributions to the assessment and intervention process
• Specific therapeutic interventions, e.g. LIAM, Video Interaction Guidance, CBT
• Where there is consideration of the need for an alternative pathway (E19)
• Consultation with a child or young person to gather their views (i.e. Person Centred Planning)
• Coaching to support specific areas, e.g. behaviour and relationships

One off consultations with families can be negotiated with link EP but in most instances more long term direct work will be taken to the locality support team for consideration.

Professional Learning and coaching is offered around 2 themes: Promoting Positive Relationships (Nurture and Trauma-Informed Approaches including De-escalation, PACE, Change and Loss, Restorative Approaches and Building on Positive Relationships), and Learning, Teaching and Assessment (Supporting Neurodiversity, CIRCLE Inclusion Resources and Supporting Dyscalculia and Numeracy Needs).
