Irvine Royal Academy has partnered up with the Scottish Rugby Union and Cashback for Communities to create the School of Rugby. This huge investment has allowed rugby to be introduced into the curriculum and a bespoke programme to be delivered to increase pupils engagement in physical activity while also developing their social, emotional and mental skills.

Current Programme

Monday P6 & 7 - School of Rugby Session 1

Tuesday P7 - School of Rugby Session 2

Wednesday P1 - Girls only Rugby

Thursday P1 & 2 - Primary 7 Rugby

Thursday P6 & after school - School of Rugby Session 3

Cashbacks for Communities

•Phase 6 of the programme is focused on the theme of ‘Sport for Change’ and sees investment being delivered to schools in areas of deprivation, targeting pupils who may be at risk of being excluded, or at risk of exclusion from school, or at risk of being involved in antisocial behaviour.

•Provides leadership opportunities to help disadvantaged young people develop confidence whilst developing physical fitness, cognitive skills, physical competencies and personal qualities.

•The project will also bring participation in positive activities and help young people contribute positively to their communities.
