North Ayrshire Council Digital Strategy
Irvine Royal Academy is committed to aligning with the council's strategy to establish a targeted approach for embedding digital skills and tools into our teaching and learning. Recognising that digital literacy is crucial for future employability, we are prioritising this essential area, aiming to equip our pupils with the expertise to navigate various digital tools and applications, preparing them for success in their future careers.
Google Classroom serves as the main digital platform for Irvine Royal Academy, designed to support pupils by consolidating all classwork, notes, PowerPoints, and homework tasks in one accessible location. This platform is updated weekly by teaching staff and will serve as a vital communication tool, keeping pupils informed about upcoming events and important dates.
To enhance engagement, it is recommended that pupils download the Google Classroom app on their smartphones. This app will provide notifications whenever messages are posted in their class stream or when new classwork is uploaded. Additionally, it will remind them of upcoming homework deadlines. While students can complete some assignments directly within the app on their mobile devices, the extent of this capability may vary based on the applications supported by their phones.
Please find links below to specific 'how to guides' which will support both pupil and parent/carer in navigating the Google Classroom platform. (coming soon)
